La Primavera Contest

La Primavera Contest is a well known annual beauty pageant which goes back to the mid 1960’s. During the first couple of years the Italian Club of Cape Town (ICCT) would host a dinner dance at the beginning of spring and all the young Italian girls and boys would be called up onto the stage to dance around in a circle. The ones who received the loudest cheer were crowned La Primavera for that year.  As the times have changed, the Primavera event had become more popular. Today this is one of the most prestigious events that the ICCT hosts annually. Due to lack of male interest in the past, we ran the Primavera event with only young ladies, however this year we are wanting to re-introducing the “Mr” back into the event.

Our current title holder and winner of Miss Primavera 2015, Veronica Assirelli Zuccato is looking forward in handing over the crown to the 2017 winner.

The event will be held at the Italian Club of Cape Town Weekend Festival on Saturday evening 8 October 2017 and will attracting 400+ guests just as it has in the past. This includes the management committee and patrons of our Club, the Italian Ambassador to South Africa (acting), the Italian Consul in Cape Town, various other dignitaries and well-known personalities. Our Miss Primavera will also have the opportunity to represent the ICCT at the national Miss Italy South Africa contest which will be held in Johannesburg annually.

Applications are now open for all those young Italians (or Italian Descent) between the ages of 16 and 23 to take on that crown of La Primavera 2017.
