Welcome To The

Italian Club

of Cape Town

Few Words About Us

The ICCT was established in the 1960’s to not only create a meeting place for Italians but to be a home away from home to Italian immigrants and friends living in Cape Town. Today we consider ourselves one of the few cultural and social hubs still left in Cape Town that offers a range of diversity, entertainment, culture and activities to get involved in.

History

The Italian Club of Cape Town, also known as the “Club Italiano di Città del Capo,” has a rich history dating back to its founding in the late 1960’s. It was established by Italian immigrants who settled in Cape Town, South Africa, seeking a sense of community and a connection to their Italian heritage. The club served as a gathering place for Italians and their descendants, offering a range of cultural, social, and recreational activities. Over the years, it became a hub for celebrating Italian traditions, including food, music, and language.

Throughout its history, the Italian Club of Cape Town has hosted various events, such as Italian festivals, culinary nights, and cultural exhibitions. These activities not only brought together the Italian community but also introduced Cape Town residents to the vibrant Italian culture.
Today, the Italian Club of Cape Town stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Italian community in South Africa, providing a place for people to connect, celebrate their heritage, and share their love for Italy’s rich culture.

Bocce

Bocce, often referred to as Italian lawn bowling, is a traditional ball sport that originated in ancient Rome and is now popular worldwide. In bocce, players take turns rolling bocce balls (typically made of metal, wood or marble) with the goal of getting their balls as close as possible to a smaller target ball called the “pallino” or “jack.” The player or team with balls closest to the pallino at the end of the game wins. Bocce can be played on various surfaces, including grass or sand courts, at the Italian Club we have a mixture of sand and limestone courts, and is enjoyed for its simplicity and social nature. If you are interested in playing Bocce or want to find out more, please contact the Bocce President Dr. Adriano Pellizzon on 076 222 5990

Football – 11-a-side

In our storied history, when it came to club football, the Italian Club was renowned for its exceptional, well-maintained soccer field, which once served as the battleground for local sporting club leagues. After months of dedicated effort and a significant financial commitment, we are delighted to announce that our soccer field has been meticulously restored to its former glory. Now, this revitalized soccer field is available for rent to anyone seeking a venue for a friendly social game or a corporate team-building event. For additional information or to secure your booking, please reach out to our club office. We look forward to providing you with a fantastic soccer experience!

Action Football – 5-a-side

5-a-side action football is a modified version of traditional soccer played with smaller teams on a smaller pitch with synthetic grass and nets. 5-a-side action football is popular for its accessibility, suitability for players of all skill levels, and the excitement it offers in a shorter time frame compared to traditional soccer. It’s a favorite choice for social games and competitive leagues alike. The ICCT has two courts and they are both available to be hired out.
